More on Retrogrades

If you're familiar with Mercury's periods of going retrograde, you already know that they are quite challenging to put up with. Mercury's retrograde motion affects travel and things tend to break down, but it wreaks the most havoc with communication. Anything and everything communication-related is almost certain to go wrong. Small misunderstandings often turn into major explosions and its not a good time to sign contracts or otherwise make any long-term commitments.

As I was looking for some information on this full moon to post, I ran across a short, sweet and to the point little PDF file by Diana Garber, "The Feng Shui Results Lady":

Diana explains all of them and provides the dates for retrogrades, eclipses and moons for the entire year. The booklet is extremely informative. Be sure to bookmark it.
She also briefly explains the implications of the astrological sign occurring with the new or full moon. This full moon is in Libra. According to Diana's article, Libra negotiates fairness and urges us to be sure that we have closure in our endings. There's also an Aries influence that supports enthusiastic new beginnings, so the two together make sense. It seems as though this is a time of significant changes for everyone. Keep a journal so that you can keep track of the events that are leading you to a better and more abundant life.
Here's another article that goes into detail:
I know that I'm looking forward to change. There are so many things I want to do but realistically, I can only focus on one thing at a time. Determining which is the most important and will bring the most stability to my finances is very difficult. I'm hopeful that Pluto in retrograde can assist with this and thankful that Mercury doesn't go retro until next month!

Pluto In Retrograde - How Deep Are You Willing To Go?

As the planet of power and transformation, Pluto heals us by exposing the negative and most unpleasant aspects of our dark side that steal our power keep us from being all that we can become. Pluto can bring obstacles to light such as negative characteristics, family patterns, low self-esteem and negative beliefs that block our ability to manifest our heart's desire. Pluto brings us face to face with the truths that cause us to be our own worst enemies. It takes a lot of courage to face our inner demons, but Pluto's energies can give us the support we need to eliminate them if we dare to venture into the deepest darkness. Are you ready to take back your power?

Pluto went retrograde on April 4, 2009 and will remain so for the next five months. When we plan our spiritual lives around the wheel of the year, we typically use the winter months for the process of exploring the dark and making plans for the return of the light. Spring is also appropriate for this process - think of it as a sort of weeding your inner garden. Take an inventory of what no longer serves you and how it has affected you up until now. There may be issues that you're not ready to deal with. Think about how you can acknowledge and manage them in the meantime. Most importantly, visualize how you will feel and what you can accomplish once you've reclaimed your power.

Plan to do some of your meditation and journaling outdoors. Observing nature and noting how the earth and its creatures prepare for new growth can be very inspiring. Make a commitment to assist them by makng a commitment to living green.

Five months seems like a long time to deal with any one planetary influence. If you're ready to become your own best friend and fairy godmother, this inner work will be well worth the effort.

Thanks for reading.

Gloom And Doom - Ethics In Astrology & Tarot

There are some excellent astrological sites out there that offer accurate information on planetary activity. Their intent is to let us know the energies that are typically produced by what's going on so that we might make our plans accordingly. I don't plan my life around the energies of the planets but I am interested in them because they're often a valid explanation for how certain periods of time progress. For instance, the dreaded Mercury retrograde more often than not affects mechanical devices and communication. People tend to misunderstand each other more frequently and more seriously than usual and it probably isn't a good time to sign contracts. If the car doesn't break down, it's likely to have a flat tire or there's a major traffic tie-up, the kind that forces you to change direction. These seem to be outer symptoms of what's going on inside as well. We may need to regroup, heal or change direction.

I've signed up for "free" astrological readings more than I care to admit and most seem likely to have come straight out of a book or some software program. A series of e-mails follows, attempting to persuade us to buy a reading. That's all fine and good - I understand that they're only trying to make some money. The line is crossed when the person offers magical talismans, jewelry and other types of voodoo and mojo and begins to make ominous threats. It starts with subtle suggestions that disaster will befall us if we don't buy the reading or chart. Or, we're told that we are going to miss out on a huge sum of money or another "once in a lifetime opportunity." The threats get a bit stronger with each e-mail:

"Your actual situation can’t last like that, dear Parthena...

We absolutely have to act, and act NOW!"

What makes me sad and angry at the same time is that there are people who fall for this, too many people. While it may be their choice and a matter of free will to do so, it still doesn't sit well with me that anyone would prey upon them to make money. Those who want a genuine astrological or tarot reading should be aware that an authentic reader would not operate that way. Yet there are some who associate a dark, bossy gypsy woman with the mystical quality of it all and actually seek out this type of reader.

In my first post when I opened this blog, I explained how I feel about readings and the type of reader that I am:

Welcome to The Other Side

I prefer not to read for someone who wants to be told their "future" and what to do. I don't agree with the way that some of my own friends read. While I see readings as a form of personal and spiritual guidance, I strongly feel that allowing someone to believe that I have all the answers is taking advantage of them. I am just a helper and the answers are within them. This is not what the majority of people who seek readings want and I have fewer clients, but I have the peace that comes from honesty.
